This trial studies whether giving chemotherapy before surgery and radiation (instead of doing surgery and radiation first) improves outcomes for people with certain nasal or paranasal sinus cancers that can be removed with an operation. You may qualify if your tumor needs more advanced removal, such as part of the eye area or the skull base.

Who can take part

  • You have nasal or paranasal sinus cancer that is T3 or T4a and can be removed with surgery that may involve the eye area or skull base
  • Your doctors say the tumor is resectable (operable) and you can safely keep important structures during surgery
  • You are in good overall health for treatment (ECOG 0 or 1, and no medical issues that would block chemotherapy or surgery)
  • You have not received investigational (study) medicines and have not started any similar studies within 4 weeks of enrollment
  • You do NOT have cancer spread to distant sites or to the lining around the brain/spinal cord
  • You have enough blood and organ function for chemotherapy (recent blood counts and kidney/liver tests within required ranges)
