Short vs longer infusion antibiotic for ventilator lung infection

Who can take part

  • You have ventilator-associated pneumonia caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • You’re being treated in an intensive care unit (ICU)
  • The bacteria strain can be treated with ceftolozane-tazobactam (test shows susceptibility)
  • You’re very sick but expected to live more than 7 days (SAPS II score over 20)
  • You can give consent, or a close trusted person can help consent for you
  • You must not have major kidney limits (CKD-EPI kidney filtering rate under 50) or be on dialysis
