Iodine scan planning for metastatic thyroid cancer treatment

Who can take part

  • You are an adult (18 years or older).
  • Your thyroid cancer diagnosis is confirmed by pathology (tissue testing).
  • You had your thyroid completely removed (total thyroidectomy).
  • You have known metastatic disease, or there is concern the cancer may have spread, and you are preparing for a special iodine scan to plan treatment.
  • Your medical team plans to give iodine-131 for treatment if the metastases still absorb iodine.
  • You have a measurable tumor/lesions seen on scans within the last 6 months (ultrasound, MRI, FDG PET/CT, or CT).
