Test DNA methylation from thyroid FNA samples to diagnose cancer

Thyroid Gland Nodule

Part of Cancer, Hormones & metabolism clinical trials.

This study looks at a molecular test (DNA methylation pattern) using samples taken during fine-needle aspiration (FNA) of thyroid nodules. It aims to help identify which thyroid nodules that looked “unclear” after the first test may be cancer.

Who can take part

  • You are getting a fine-needle aspiration (FNA) for a thyroid nodule.
  • Your FNA result is indeterminate/unclear (Bethesda category III, IV, or V).
  • You may be any age, race, or ethnicity and can still take part.

Liquid blood tests to diagnose thyroid nodules or cancer

This study tests whether a blood “liquid biopsy” can help diagnose thyroid cancer or hard-to-tell thyroid nodules without needing extra procedures. It may help confirm what’s going on before or around planned thyroid surgery.

NCT05229341Recruiting
Testing DNA “methylation” to evaluate thyroid nodule samples

This study looks at patient tissue from needle biopsies to see if DNA “methylation” patterns can help diagnose and guide treatment for thyroid nodules. You might benefit by helping improve how these nodules are evaluated, using information from your biopsy sample and medical data.

Study on DNA patterns in brain, thyroid, and uterine cancers

This trial uses a special test called the methylome to study DNA changes in three types of solid tumors: gliomas (brain tumors), malignant thyroid neoplasms, and endometrial carcinomas (uterine cancer). It aims to better understand these cancers to improve diagnosis and treatment.

Predicting thyroid nodule results with a new test

This study tests a new tool (ThyroidPrint) to see if it can accurately predict whether a thyroid nodule with unclear biopsy results is benign or malignant. The goal is to help doctors and patients decide on surgery more confidently.

Testing cancer risk in unclear thyroid nodules

This study looks at ways to better estimate the cancer risk of thyroid nodules that are “unclear” on standard testing. It uses information from your clinical history, ultrasound findings, and additional lab/genetic-type features to help sort which nodules are more likely to be cancer.

Why some thyroid biopsy samples are hard to evaluate quickly

This trial looks at what makes it harder to quickly tell if a thyroid nodule sample is good enough for diagnosis during your biopsy. It may help doctors improve the procedure for people with suspicious nodules.
