Who can take part
- You are age 60 to 80, and you can be male or female
- You have pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes, and your diabetes medicines are only metformin, sulfonylureas, and/or DPP-4 inhibitors (no insulin or newer injectable or tablet classes listed)
- Your blood sugar control is limited (A1C must be under 8.0%)
- Kidney and blood test results are within study limits (eGFR above 45, triglycerides under 350, LDL 150 or less; anemia thresholds apply)
- You don’t smoke or use nicotine/vaping products, and you can safely do MRI/DEXA scans
