Study how fatigue happens in prediabetes and type 2 diabetes

This study looks at why people with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes may feel unusually tired during activities. You may be asked to do exercise testing and answer questions to help researchers understand the body changes behind fatigue.

Who can take part

  • Be an adult between 30 and 85 years old
  • Have blood sugar results in one of these ranges: prediabetes, or type 2 diabetes with HbA1c over 6.5% but under 10%
  • Or be in the control group with normal blood sugar (HbA1c 5.6% or lower and fasting glucose 99 mg/dL or lower)
  • Do not have signs or symptoms of nerve damage (neuropathy)
  • Must not use insulin or other medications linked to more advanced type 2 diabetes
  • Do not have uncontrolled diabetes (HbA1c above 10%) and do not have smoking or uncontrolled medical conditions like untreated thyroid problems, hypertension, or heart/muscle issues that block exercise testing
