Who can take part
- You must be an adult (age 18 or older) and able to sign consent
- Your doctors must think you may have a primary brain tumor and you’re a candidate for brain tumor resection
- You must be willing to have a detailed MRI (with perfusion, diffusion, and spectroscopy) before the procedure
- You must be able to safely have an MRI (no non–MRI-safe metal/devices, and manageable claustrophobia)
- Your kidney function must be adequate (GFR over 60, or a reduced alternative contrast plan if in the 30–60 range is needed)
- You must be willing to sign consent specifically for the C-13 pyruvate MRI spectroscopy
