  • Your baby’s age (post-menstrual age) is between 23 and 44 weeks
  • Your baby’s platelet count is below 100 (in the lab’s units of x109/L)
  • A parent or guardian can provide written consent
  • Your baby is not expected to survive more than 5 days
  • Your baby is not on ECMO (a heart-lung machine)
