Who can take part
- Age 18 or older
- Currently in an intensive care unit (ICU) on at least one type of life support, such as medicines for blood pressure, breathing help, or kidney dialysis
- Very low platelet count (20 or less) within the last 24 hours
- Expected to stay in the ICU for at least 48 hours more
- No active major bleeding, recent major surgery, or conditions that make platelet transfusions unsafe
- Must be covered by French health insurance and agree to receive blood products
