Who can take part
- You’re at least 18 years old and can sign consent, including permission to share health records for the study
- You have newly diagnosed squamous cell cancer in the mouth, throat, or larynx (voice box)
- You plan to have the main tumor fully removed with curative intent at UNC-CH
- Your cancer has not spread to distant organs (no metastatic disease, M0)
- You have needed tumor samples available for study testing, and you can do repeated blood draws
- You can receive recommended after-surgery treatment (radiation and sometimes other medicines) as your doctors advise
