Who can take part

  • Be between 40 and 85 years old
  • Have smoked at least 10 pack-years (a pack-year is the number of packs per day times years smoked)
  • Be a current smoker or a former smoker
  • Have a confirmed COPD diagnosis from lung breathing test results (FEV1/FVC ratio ≤ 0.70 after using an inhaler)
  • Be able and willing to do all study tests: breathing (pulmonary function test), a 6-minute walk test, and a chest CT scan, and sign consent
