FDOPA PET scan to locate excess insulin in infancy

Congenital Hyperinsulinism

Who can take part

  • You have a diagnosis of focal or related congenital hyperinsulinism (FoHI/DiHI) based on blood sugar and insulin pattern testing
  • Genetic testing has found a disease-causing change in ABCC8 or KCNJ1
  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) is not well controlled with standard medicines like diazoxide or octreotide
  • You can stop certain medicines in time for the PET scan (you have a clear “washout” plan)
  • Your liver and kidneys are working normally
