Who can take part
- You have had an acute ischemic stroke affecting the front part of the brain (anterior circulation), and a scan shows a treatable blockage in the neck and/or brain artery branches (carotid end, M1, or M2).
- Your stroke symptoms are considered disabling by you or your treating doctor.
- Your scan suggests there is brain tissue that may still be salvageable (not too far gone) and could benefit from the procedure.
- The procedure start time (groin puncture) must be within 24 hours of symptom onset or your last known normal.
- If you also have a severe blockage in the neck artery (internal carotid), it must be 70% or more and confirmed on the specialized catheter angiography test; arterial dissection-related blockages are not eligible.
- You cannot have significant prior disability (modified Rankin score 3 or higher), pregnancy, or any reason you cannot safely receive the procedure, angioplasty/stenting, or antiplatelet medicine.
