Stereotactic radiation for limited spread in kidney cancer

This trial tests whether targeted, high-precision radiation (stereotactic radiotherapy) can control a small number of growing kidney cancer metastases while you continue systemic treatment. It may help people who have “oligoprogressive” disease, where only 1–3 spots are getting worse.

Who can take part

  • You have confirmed clear cell kidney cancer (sometimes mixed with other types).
  • Your scans show metastases outside the brain (extracerebral), and only 1–3 growing spots.
  • The growing spots are in up to 2 organs and have been confirmed on two CT scans about 2 months apart.
  • At least one of the growing metastases is measurable on scan, and each target spot is 4 cm or smaller.
  • Your overall health is good enough for treatment (WHO performance status 0–2) and you must be able to receive stereotactic radiation to all growing sites.
  • You must be able to continue the usual cancer drugs and to be followed up; age 18+ and able to give consent.
