Who can take part

  • You are pregnant with one baby (not twins or more).
  • You have alpha thalassemia trait or beta thalassemia trait.
  • You are not already taking more than 0.6 mg folic acid daily for 3+ months during pregnancy.
  • Your first antenatal (prenatal) visit happens at 16 weeks of pregnancy or less.
  • You are between 18 and under the age limit (not 18 or younger).
