Buspirone and melatonin for depression after a brain injury

This trial studies whether the medicines buspirone and melatonin can reduce depression symptoms in people who had a mild or moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI) at least 3 months ago. It may help if you have ongoing depression after TBI and can safely take study medications and attend regular visits, including MRI scans.

Who can take part

  • You had a non-penetrating mild or moderate TBI at least 3 months ago
  • You are 18 to 64 years old
  • You have a current diagnosis of major depression, and your depression scores are high enough
  • Your injury severity fits one of these: early coma score was 9–15, or you lost consciousness 1 minute to 24 hours, or memory gap was under 7 days
  • You can speak English and attend regular study appointments
