One-anastomosis stomach bypass study for reflux and stomach changes

This study looks at how a one-anastomosis gastric bypass changes how your stomach and esophagus work, especially relating to acid reflux. You may be offered the planned surgery if you fit the weight and heartburn/reflux-related conditions, and the team will measure changes before and after.

Who can take part

  • Have a BMI over 35
  • Have tried non-surgery weight-treatment for at least 2 years, but without enough weight loss
  • Be able and willing to give informed consent to join the study
  • Do not have known stomach/esophagus warning conditions like Barrett’s esophagus or severe esophagus inflammation (Grades C or D)
  • Do not have significant structural or reflux problems on tests (like large hiatal hernia, strictures, very high acid exposure, very frequent reflux, or abnormal swallowing measurements)
