Who can take part

  • You have chronic low sodium that is not due to too-high body “concentration” (non–high osmolar), with sodium below 135 mmol/L
  • Your low sodium is described as “euvolemic” (normal body fluid) or “hypervolemic” (too much body fluid)
  • You are not severely ill from low sodium and do not need urgent treatment with 3% salt (or intensive/intermediate care) now
  • You are not known to be allergic to empagliflozin or related medicines
  • Your kidney function is not severely reduced (eGFR must be 20 mL/min/1.73 m² or higher)
  • Your liver and thyroid/adrenal conditions are controlled (or meet lab limits), and blood pressure is not too low
