Who can take part

  • You’re an adult (18 or older), and you can consent in writing
  • You have a non-infected, non-poor-blood-flow diabetic foot ulcer that needs offloading (reducing pressure)
  • You can walk around at home (with or without help)
  • The wound has been present for 1 year or less
  • You can wear the smart boot (no severe foot deformity or acute Charcot) and it fits your situation
  • Your blood sugar control and circulation tests meet study limits (for example, HbA1c not above 12%)
