This trial studies a spinal fluid (CSF) treatment to help prevent dangerous blood-vessel tightening (vasospasm) after a type of brain bleed caused by an aneurysm. If you qualify, the goal is to reduce complications soon after aneurysm repair.

Who can take part

  • Be between 18 and under 90 years old
  • Have a specific kind of brain bleed: aneurysm-related SAH (severity roughly Hunt and Hess 3–5)
  • Have an aneurysm that needs repair with clipping or coiling
  • Had a brain angiogram (digital subtraction angiography) before the aneurysm is repaired
  • Get the aneurysm repaired within 72 hours of the bleed, and treatment within 24 hours of symptom onset
  • Need an external ventricular drain (a tube to help drain spinal fluid)
