Who can take part

  • You have a diagnosed bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) and are age 10 or older
  • You can include first-degree relatives (parent, sibling, or child) who are also age 10 or older
  • You are able and willing to give informed consent (or have a legal guardian if needed)
  • You (and/or your family member) are not known to have HIV, hepatitis B, or hepatitis C
  • You do not have known chromosomal/karyotype problems (major chromosome number/structure changes)
  • You do not have a known or suspected inherited connective-tissue syndrome such as Marfan, Loeys-Dietz, or Ehlers-Danlos
