Who can take part
- Be over 18 years old and have a confirmed diagnosis of cystic fibrosis (CF)
- Have been taking an approved CFTR modulator (like ivacaftor or elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor) for at least 30 days
- Have CFRD and still have high blood sugar at least 6 months after starting CFTR modulator therapy, shown by one of these: using insulin, high A1C (>6.5%), high fasting glucose (>126 mg/dL), or high non-fasting glucose (>200 mg/dL)
- Not have had a lung or liver transplant, and you should not need supplemental oxygen
- Avoid certain medicines and situations: no interacting medicines with metformin, no vitamin B12 deficiency, no pregnancy/breastfeeding, and no recent severe CF flare needing hospital/IV antibiotics in the last 30 days
