Who can take part
- You are a girl or female between birth and age 18
- You are having a planned, routine outpatient surgery (not an all-day hospital stay)
- The surgery must be one of these: hernia repair, removal of a benign (non-cancer) lump, or laparoscopic gallbladder removal
- You have not been diagnosed with certain hormone or fertility-related conditions (like Turner syndrome, hormone disorders, insulin-dependent diabetes, or autoimmune disorders)
- You have not had cancer or any cancer treatments (chemo, radiation, or stem-cell transplant), and you have not had an ovary removed
- You are not pregnant, and you are not having a non-routine outpatient procedure (for example: central line placement, Supprelin placement/removal, breast mass removal, or feeding tube placement)
