Sinus bone graft and dental implants for some people with diabetes

Who can take part

  • You are at least 20 years old.
  • You have insulin-dependent diabetes and your blood sugar is under 140 mg/dL (7.8 mmol/L).
  • You have missing upper back teeth (upper jaw, near the back of the mouth).
  • Your remaining upper-jaw bone height is between 4 and 7 mm, and the jaw width is at least 6.5 mm.
  • You have teeth in your lower jaw that meet (contact) when you bite.
  • You cannot have reasons you shouldn’t get dental implants, active infection where the implant would go, or uncontrolled gum disease (like progressive periodontitis).
