Who can take part

  • Your Holter monitor must show at least 30 extra upper-heart beats each hour, or a run of at least 20 beats
  • You must be between 70 and 89 years old
  • You should not already have atrial fibrillation or flutter
  • You should not be on lifelong blood-thinner pills (oral anticoagulants)
  • You should not have an implanted heart device (such as a pacemaker or defibrillator)
