Who can take part

  • You must have a heart device (like a pacemaker, ICD, or loop recorder) that can detect fast heart rhythms from the upper chambers.
  • In the last 3 months, your device must have recorded fast heart episodes that added up to more than 21 hours.
  • You must not have had a standard EKG or Holter monitor show atrial fibrillation (AFib) in the past year (though a very short episode under 30 seconds is okay).
  • You should not be taking certain heart rhythm medications (called Class Ic or III antiarrhythmics) right now.
  • You must have a life expectancy of more than one year and not be in hospice or unable to get a heart transplant.
