Who can take part
- You must be able to give informed consent (sign the study consent form)
- You are age 18 to 80 and need gum disease treatment with added antibiotics
- You have severe gum disease signs: at least 30% of your teeth have deep pockets (over 6 mm) and bleeding with probing
- You must not have started antibiotics in the last 2 months
- You must be able and willing to attend frequent dental checkups during follow-up
- You must be able to take study medications safely (no known allergies to amoxicillin or macrolides, or to 5-nitroimidazole antibiotics)
