Adding probenecid to amoxicillin for bone and joint infections

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years of age or older.
  • You have a bone or joint infection (like arthritis, osteomyelitis, or infection near a joint replacement) that is being treated with amoxicillin by mouth.
  • You have a lab test confirming that the bacteria causing your infection can be killed by amoxicillin.
  • You will stay in the hospital for at least 4 days after joining the study.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you agree to use effective birth control if you are a woman who could become pregnant.
  • You do not have severe kidney or liver problems, and you weigh between 40 and 110 kg (about 88 to 242 pounds).
