Who can take part
- You’re a woman age 50 or older
- You had breast-conserving surgery (lumpectomy), not mastectomy
- Your tumor is invasive breast cancer about under 3 cm and is one focus (not spread within the breast)
- Your cancer is not classic invasive lobular type, and it is grade 1 or 2
- Tests show lymph nodes under the arm are negative, and there is no cancer in blood/lymph vessels (no lymphovascular invasion)
- You have not had radiation to the breast or chest before, and you don’t have distant spread (no blood-borne metastases)
