Follow-up after surgery for peroneal nerve foot drop

Peroneal Nerve Entrapment

This study follows people who have a nerve in the leg (the peroneal nerve) that is pinched, causing ongoing foot drop, to see how operative treatment affects recovery and outcomes. It may help improve understanding of what results to expect after surgery and rehabilitation.

Who can take part

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You (or your legal representative) must be able to give written consent before any study steps.
  • Your nerve problem must be confirmed by nerve testing (EDX) showing peroneal nerve entrapment and foot drop lasting about 6–14 weeks (MRC score 3 or lower).
  • You must have had an ultrasound or MRI to rule out a mass pressing on the nerve.
  • Your foot drop must be caused by pinching at the fibular head (not another location).
