Beta-blocker study for heart muscle function in young babies

Who can take part

  • Be a baby younger than 60 days old at the time of consent
  • Have tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary stenosis or double outlet right ventricle (DORV) confirmed by ultrasound/echocardiogram
  • Weigh more than 2 kg and be able to take feeds by mouth or tube (enteral feeds)
  • Be at least 35 weeks born (not too early/very premature)
  • Not have a specific heart rhythm/electrical condition called atrioventricular block with a prolonged PR interval on EKG
  • Not be taking medicines that interact with propranolol, and avoid metal implants
