Who can take part

  • You are age 65 to 89 (under 90).
  • You are scheduled for major digestive cancer surgery expected to last 2 hours or longer.
  • You have a frailty score of 5 or higher on the Clinical Frailty Scale.
  • You can give written informed consent.
  • You can participate in pre-surgery rehab (you are not limited by paralysis, fractures, or other major movement problems).
  • You can eat by mouth before surgery.
