This Phase 2 study looks at whether changes in night/dark adaptation can show early whether high-dose atorvastatin (a statin) is helping intermediate age-related macular degeneration (AMD). If you fit, you may help researchers find an earlier way to tell who is responding.

Who can take part

  • You have intermediate AMD (in at least one eye)
  • Your study eye has “high-risk” intermediate AMD features (a specific drusen pattern) and no known GA (advanced atrophy) or CNV (abnormal vessel growth) in that study eye
  • You have not taken high-dose atorvastatin 80 mg before
  • You have not previously used other statins that your doctor says cannot safely be changed to high-dose atorvastatin
  • You do not have a prior bad reaction to statins
