PEG treatment to improve nerve repair after upper-arm injury

This Phase 2 study tests a PEG-based approach meant to help damaged peripheral nerves heal and regain movement and feeling after an upper-arm/hand nerve injury. You may be screened quickly after injury to see if the nerve pattern and your health situation fit the study plan.

Who can take part

  • Be between 18 and 80 years old
  • Have a complete nerve injury in the arm from recent upper-extremity trauma, treated within 48 hours
  • Your injury must affect specific upper-arm/forearm nerves (axillary, radial, median, ulnar, or musculocutaneous) between the upper arm and the wrist crease
  • The injured nerve segment must include both feeling (sensory) and movement (motor) nerve fibers (a “mixed” injury)
  • You must NOT start surgery only a few hours after injury, and it must not be a brachial plexus injury
  • You must be able to attend all study visits and follow study instructions; you also cannot be allergic to polyethylene glycol (PEG) or be pregnant/breastfeeding
