Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have MDS (a bone marrow disorder) that is not leukemia, and is low-risk or intermediate-1
  • Your MDS is considered stable by your clinician
  • You have blood type A, B, or AB (not O)
  • You need red blood cell transfusions about every 6 weeks or sooner (at least 2 units)
  • You get these transfusions as an outpatient (not as an inpatient)
