Who can take part
- You must be 18 years or older
- You have a confirmed or suspected S. aureus bloodstream infection within the last 48 hours
- Your MRSA risk is low (recent negative MRSA swab within 90 days) or your MRSA status is unknown
- Your care team is currently using cefazolin or can switch you to cefazolin as the main antibiotic
- You must be able to consent (or have a healthcare proxy if you cannot)
- You cannot have certain allergies (severe allergy to beta-lactam antibiotics, and any allergy to ertapenem), among other safety reasons
