  • You are between 18 and 65 years old
  • You have type 2 diabetes
  • You are scheduled for bariatric surgery (if you have obesity) or abdominal surgery that will take less than 1.5 hours
  • Your weight has been stable for at least 2 months before your first pre-op visit
  • You do not smoke
  • You do not have kidney problems or uncontrolled thyroid issues
