Who can take part
- You are having cardiac surgery and can give consent (you or your next of kin can sign).
- You develop atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter within 7 days after surgery.
- Your doctors can use the ICU time (or ICU start) as the start of the 7-day monitoring period.
- You have not had left atrial ablation before, and you do not have a prior cardioembolic stroke.
- You are not currently at risk from adenosine testing (no adenosine allergy, and not with severe COPD/asthma or long-QT syndrome).
- You are not on strong heart-support machines during the procedure (like ECMO or an LVAD).
