Beta blocker and lisinopril to protect the heart in AML

Who can take part

  • Be at least 18 years old and newly diagnosed with AML
  • Plan to start AML induction treatment that includes an anthracycline (you may start if it hasn’t included one yet)
  • Be able to swallow and follow the beta blocker and lisinopril schedule during the study
  • Have a heart ultrasound (echocardiogram) showing good heart pumping (ejection fraction 50% or higher)
  • Have acceptable blood tests for liver and kidney function (doctor will check labs before enrollment)
  • Not be taking a beta blocker or ACE inhibitor already at screening
