MRI study to reduce brain deficits after pediatric epilepsy surgery

Who can take part

  • Ages 3–19 years (or 5–19 for healthy control participants)
  • Have drug-resistant focal epilepsy if you’re a patient, and plan two-stage surgery using subdural electrodes
  • Be able to complete MRI successfully (not too much head movement during the scan)
  • No significant neurological weakness like hemiplegia before surgery
  • No history of severe pregnancy/birth brain injury (prematurity or hypoxic-ischemic event)
