Who can take part
- Your child was already enrolled in the earlier BabySTEPS1 study
- You already agreed to be contacted again for this school-age follow-up
- A parent or legal guardian can consent in English or Spanish for your child’s participation
- Your child is being seen for a clinically needed exam done under anesthesia around 4.5–5 years
- Your child was born very early (or was at high risk for retinopathy of prematurity) and was born/treated at the listed Duke sites, per the study rules
- Your child does NOT have major eye problems that prevent imaging or exam (like significant cataract/corneal clouding), and no severe non-prematurity condition affecting brain development
