Who can take part

  • Your baby is currently in the PICU or NICU at the Medical University of Vienna
  • Your baby is older than 36 weeks (corrected age) but under 24 months
  • Your baby has a breathing tube and a ventilator for at least 6 hours, and doctors expect it for at least 12 more hours
  • Doctors strongly suspect acute bronchiolitis or pneumonia based on symptoms and chest X-ray
  • Your baby has severe lung distress based on an oxygen-need calculation (OSI) and oxygen changes over time
  • Parents can give written consent
