Who can take part
- Be between ages 18 and 85
- Be scheduled for a first (primary) lumbar low-back spinal fusion
- Have the fusion planned for 3 or fewer spine levels
- Have only decompression surgery in the past (prior lumbar fusion is not allowed)
- Do not currently have a spinal infection
- Do not have a spinal tumor or cancer in the spine
