Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for an elective shoulder arthroplasty (shoulder replacement surgery).
  • You do not have a past history of septic arthritis in the shoulder (a serious joint infection).
  • You have not taken antibiotics in the 3 months before your surgery.
  • You have not had recent treatment for acne.
  • You are fluent in English.
