Antibiotics for certain viral lung infections in hospitalized adults
Part of Infections, Lungs & breathing clinical trials.
This trial studies whether giving antibiotics affects recovery in adults hospitalized with moderately severe infections caused by specific viruses (influenza, parainfluenza, RSV, or hMPV). It may help show when antibiotics are helpful or unnecessary for viral airway illness.

This study looks at how well different treatments work for people with lung infections or sudden worsening of chronic lung disease. If you have a respiratory sample available and are about to start an antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal, or steroid, you may be able to join.
This study tests whether a quick test for COVID-19, flu, and RSV can help doctors avoid giving antibiotics when they aren't needed. It's for people with fever or chest infection symptoms who are not sick enough to be hospitalized.
This study is testing different treatments for people with respiratory infections like the flu who are not in the hospital. You may be able to join if you have a positive test, have symptoms like cough or fever, and start within a few days of feeling sick.
This trial tests different treatments for serious lung infections in people who are already in the hospital. It may help doctors learn which treatment works best for recovery and survival when pneumonia-like illness is suspected.
This trial tests whether elderly patients hospitalized with a viral lower respiratory infection can safely stop antibiotics early. It aims to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use and side effects.
This trial tests whether an experimental drug called AP1189, added to standard hospital care, can help people hospitalized with severe breathing problems from viruses like COVID-19, flu, or RSV. The goal is to see if it reduces the need for mechanical ventilation or other life support.
