Who can take part
- You are an adult age 18 or older with septic shock from a suspected or confirmed infection
- Your illness includes high lactate and you need a blood-pressure medicine (like norepinephrine) after getting at least 1,000 mL of fluids in 1 hour
- You can start the study within 4 hours of being diagnosed with septic shock
- You should not have ongoing active bleeding, be on a do-not-resuscitate plan, or be pregnant
- Capillary refill time (a skin circulation check) must be measurable on you
