Who can take part
- You have heart failure with reduced pumping strength (left ventricle ejection fraction 35% or less).
- You have signs of fluid overload or congestion, such as swelling, lung crackles, fluid around the lung/abdomen, or high pressure in the heart circulation (CVP).
- You are in cardiogenic shock, meaning your blood pressure is very low and/or your organs are not getting enough blood (at least 2 of the listed shock markers).
- You are currently needing medicines that raise heart strength or blood pressure (inotropes/vasopressors).
- You may be able to receive an Impella 5.5 heart pump (no major contraindications).
