Who can take part

  • You’re 18 to 80 years old
  • Your heart attack/acute coronary syndrome started within the last 24 hours (up to 24 hours)
  • You have cardiogenic shock, shown by very low blood pressure and/or needing medicines to keep it up, plus low heart pumping numbers
  • There are signs your left heart is under strain and that organs are not getting enough blood (examples include very high BNP/NT-proBNP, high lactate, low urine output, or cold skin)
  • You plan to have the blocked artery treated with PCI (a catheter procedure) after angiography
  • A doctor believes there’s no major blockage preventing placement of a 14 French catheter in the groin (femoral artery), and you can/your family can give consent (or it can be done as an emergency consent process)
