Who can take part

  • You can sign a consent form and are 18 or older (men or non-pregnant women).
  • You have symptomatic heart failure and your echocardiogram shows pumping strength (LVEF) between 40% and 70%.
  • In the past year you either had a heart-failure hospitalization, or in the past 6 months you had an urgent visit needing IV treatment; if not, special blood test results must be high enough.
  • Your heart rhythm and vitals must meet limits: resting heart rate 50–110 bpm and resting blood pressure systolic 100–159.
  • Your body size and heart valves must be acceptable: BMI 46 or less, and no severe valve narrowing or leaking; also no mechanical tricuspid valve or complex congenital heart disease.
