Who can take part
- Be between 18 and 75 years old
- Be currently being treated with vancomycin and expected to stay on it for at least 3 days
- Have kidney filtration (creatinine clearance) estimated at 30 mL/min or higher
- Not have severe liver problems (liver enzymes more than 3 times the usual upper limit)
- Be able to take pills by mouth and not require a breathing machine (mechanical ventilation)
- Not be pregnant or breastfeeding, and not have a melatonin allergy or a condition that makes you unable to take melatonin
